What you will do

• Design, build and validate machine-learning models on tabular risk data and on satellite and spatial data: baselines, GLMs and gradient boosting, time-aware validation, calibration.
• Build repeatable training and evaluation pipelines and take models to production with the engineers on the team.
• Work on multi-objective optimisation of pricing decisions that depend on dozens of parameters.
• Set technical standards, and review code and models from others on the team.
• Discuss models live with the client’s experts, in English.
• Work on commercial and/or research projects.

What we expect

• Senior experience: you can take an ML model from problem definition to production on your own.
• Very good production Python (tests, version control, code review) and good SQL.
• Solid statistics: you define the target and exposure correctly, catch data leakage and validate models over time rather than on a random split.
• Hands-on experience with GLMs and boosting models.
• Fluent English in technical conversations.
• The ability to turn results into recommendations, and to say plainly when the data is not enough for a decision.

Nice to have

• R. Part of the work builds on R code written by others.
• Optimisation methods, including multi-objective optimisation.
• Spatial and satellite data, raster and vector: GeoPandas, rasterio, PostGIS.
• MLOps: data and model versioning, CI/CD, monitoring, Azure.
• Pricing, risk, credit risk, forecasting or econometrics.
• Experiment design or causal inference.

This job is statistics and machine learning. If your experience is mainly prompting LLMs or building chatbots on them, this role is not for you.
